How Card Values Are Calculated
Ace
An Ace card has a value of 1. In Baccarat, the Ace is not the highest-value card — it is useful for adjusting the total when combined with higher-value cards.
2–9
Cards 2 through 9 each have a face value equal to their number. For example — a 7 card is worth 7, a 4 card is worth 4, simple as that.
10, J, Q, K
Face cards (Jack, Queen, King) and the 10 card are all worth 0. If the total goes over 10, the tens digit is dropped and only the ones digit counts (for example — 7+6=13 → 3).
Natural 8 and Natural 9
When the first two cards total 8 or 9, it is called a "Natural" and no more cards are drawn — the result is settled right there. Natural 9 beats Natural 8. If both sides have a Natural, the higher value wins.
